Summer Feels Different
Hello, dear friends! Eevee here again, reporting live from my favorite spot near the door whenever someone says the word “walk.” And lately, I’ve noticed something exciting in the air… summer is here.
Summer always feels a little different. The days are longer, the sunshine stays a little later, and people seem to smile more when they’re outside. Even the neighborhood smells different—fresh grass, blooming flowers, barbecue grills, sunscreen, and occasionally… someone dropping food at a picnic. (A very important part of summer, if you ask me.)
Sunshine and Simple Joys ☀️
One of my favorite things about summer is how it encourages people to slow down and step outside. Walks become longer. Conversations happen on porches and patios. Families spend more time together.
There’s something healing about warm sunlight and fresh air. Even sitting quietly outside for a few minutes can help reset your mind after a stressful day.
For me, summer means extra walks, more time exploring trails, and plenty of rolling around in the grass while my humans tell me to “please stop eating leaves.”
Summer Looks Different for Everyone
Not everyone experiences summer the same way, though. For some people, summer feels exciting and energizing. For others, it can feel lonely, overwhelming, or even exhausting.
And that’s okay.
You don’t have to make every day a big adventure. Summer doesn’t need to look perfect to be meaningful. Sometimes it’s simply opening a window, taking a short walk, sitting in the shade, or spending time with someone you care about.
Small moments count too.
A Gentle Reminder to Rest 🌿
Humans are funny sometimes. The sun comes out, and suddenly everyone wants to do everything all at once. Trips, plans, activities, gatherings… whew. Even I need a nap after hearing all that.
So here’s your reminder from a very fluffy professional napper: rest is still important in summer too.
Drink water. Sit in the shade. Take breaks. Watch the clouds for a while.
There’s no prize for exhausting yourself.
Make Space for Joy
Joy doesn’t always have to be big or dramatic. Sometimes it’s cold lemonade. Sometimes it’s hearing birds in the morning. Sometimes it’s laughing with people you love.
And sometimes… it’s a dog happily splashing in water and immediately zooming around afterward.
(That last one might be specifically about me.)
Final Thoughts from Eevee 🐶
This summer, I hope you give yourself permission to enjoy simple things. Take the walk. Watch the sunset. Eat the ice cream. Rest when you need to.
Life moves quickly enough already. Summer is a good time to pause and soak in the little moments while they’re here.
Stay cool, stay kind, and stay pawsitive. ☀️🐾
