What Clients Teach Me (from Eevee’s POV)

Hello, dear friends! Eevee here—your loyal therapy dog and quiet observer at Genuine Healthcare. Today, I want to share something a little different.

People often say that I help others feel calm, safe, and supported. And while I do my very best (with plenty of tail wags and soft eyes), the truth is… I’ve learned just as much from the humans I spend time with.

So here it is—some of the things clients have taught me, from my point of view.

1. Courage Doesn’t Always Look Loud

I used to think being brave meant being bold, energetic, and fearless—kind of like when I run full speed across an open field. But I’ve learned that courage can be very quiet.

Sometimes, it looks like someone simply showing up. Sometimes, it’s sitting in a room when it would be easier to leave. Sometimes, it’s trying again after a difficult day.

That kind of courage? I see it every day.

2. It’s Okay to Take Your Time

Not everyone reaches out to pet me right away—and that’s okay. Some people sit across the room first. Some take a few sessions before they come closer.

At first, I didn’t understand. (I mean… I’m very pettable.) But I’ve learned that trust takes time. And there’s no need to rush it.

Now, I just wait. I stay nearby, calm and patient. And when they’re ready, I’m here.

3. Feelings Don’t Need to Be Hidden

I’ve seen tears, quiet moments, deep breaths, and even laughter that comes out of nowhere. And I’ve learned something important—feelings don’t have to be tucked away.

Humans carry so much, and sometimes just letting it out—even a little—can make a difference.

No judgment. No pressure. Just space to feel.

4. Small Wins Matter More Than You Think

I celebrate a lot of things—walks, treats, hearing my name—but humans have taught me to notice different kinds of wins.

Finishing a session. Speaking up. Trying something new. Even just staying present.

These moments might seem small, but they’re not. They’re steps forward.

5. Connection Is Powerful

Whether it’s a conversation, shared silence, or a gentle pat on my head—connection matters. I’ve seen how even the simplest interactions can shift someone’s day.

It reminds me that no one is meant to go through things alone.

(Also, I strongly believe that sitting next to a dog helps. Just saying.)

6. Healing Isn’t Linear

Some days feel lighter. Others feel heavier. And that’s part of the process.

I’ve learned not to expect things to move in a straight line. Growth comes in waves, in pauses, in small steps that don’t always look the same.

And that’s okay.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned from all of you, it’s this: showing up matters.

Even on the hard days. Even when it feels uncertain.

You don’t have to have everything figured out. You don’t have to move fast. You just have to keep going, one step at a time.

I’ll be right here—watching, learning, and cheering you on in my own quiet, fluffy way.

Stay pawsitive and gentle with yourself.
